The Largest Listed Building in Europe, it's a Modernist Monster

Despite the daytime TV schedules being crammed with car boot shows & antique auctions show, and despite my penchant for crap tv, I never tune in of a morning.

However, I was making a cup of tea in my Mum's kitchen half an hour ago & got stopped in my tracks by a daytime telly piece about Sheffield's Park Hill Estate. It's an abandoned monster of residential living, completed in 1961 and falling into disrepair in the 80s.

It's now undergoing a multi-million pound regeneration, after becoming a listed building meaning it can't be demolished.

I'm not convinced. There's something a bit bleak about that artist's impression of the finished product. The hot air balloons are all a bit Logan's Run. Soylent Green is People.

Boba Fett Stained Glass- by Me!

One of my new year's resolutions was to learn glass painting. This is my first ever attempt at faux stained glass, a little Boba Fett number for my husband.

I need to work on colour schemes, but more importantly I need a way to 'fix' the paint, as you can see it ended up running even though I left it overnight to dry out.

Not a bad start though, if I do say so myself.

The Ministry of Curious Stuff

A Vic Reeves children's show about weird, unexplained topics? Sort of like the BBC made a tv programme tailored for me. My son is being forced to Watch With Mother this series, currently running on Mondays on CBBC. I've been following Vic Reeves since the days of Big Night Out, and even though Bob is missing from Ministry, there are still touches of the style of the pair's madness.

Vic's new sidekick is Captain Lengthwidth, played by Dan Renton Skinner, who is unrecognisable from his Angelos character from Shooting Stars.

Apart from being a fan girl for the comedy royalty, the show also appeals in the weird topics ('Do aliens live among us?', 'Can we travel through time?') and the aesthetic aspects of the set.

The Ministry seems to be set in a bizarre little corner of Terry Gilliam's 'Brazil', with jet-packed, steam punk postwomen & sassy WW2 telephonist assistants.

I advise you to get all over it, the first three episodes are on BBC iplayer now, and episode 4 screens this Monday.

Grab a Guitar like Elvis's

A sneaky for sale post here, my husband is selling a white Hagstrom, details below. And here's Elvis playing, or more accurately dancing, with his Hagstrom Viking.

If you fancy checking out my husband's band it's www.DieComply.com

"I'm selling this because I bought it out of the sheer love of Hagstroms but I've two others which are more suited to my style of playing and this one just sits there.

It's barely been played and only gigged once, it's like new. No dents or scratches, new set of regular slinky on it. it's a very versatile guitar suitable for everything from heavy rock, indie, surf to metal or blues.
