Original Tri-ang Retro Dolls' House

I was searching on eBay for dolls' house wallpaper in a 60's style for the tortoise's tank, when I realised I really, really needed a dolls' house too, for me.

You pay almost as much for the shipping of these wooden beasts, but you can be lucky; I got this for £10 Buy it Now with £10 shipping. Not a bad price, but it is very scuffed.

This is a Tri-ang brand house.

The Lundby of Sweden dollshouses are especially kitsch, with Ikea style furniture. Worth a search on eBay if you like vintage style.

Kitsch Pets? Our New Tortoise

The ultimate in retro pets, The Tortoise.

Surprisingly good craic as a pet. This is a 4 year old male Greek Tortoise, who I bought 'second-hand' on Gumtree, along with his home which comprises of a special aquarium with heat & UV lamps.

Many people have asked me aren't they illegal these days, but no, along with their import papers they are still legal in the UK, if a little tricky to come by.

My own Mum had a tortoise when she was six, although back then they were just kept in the backyard would've told today's versions that heatlamps are for wimps.

We've also set up an oxymoronical Tortoise Run in the back garden.

He's called Travis and loves peas.
