Living Walls - Bringing Greenery to The City
/
I've been to the upside down Wonderworks building myself.
However, I was making a cup of tea in my Mum's kitchen half an hour ago & got stopped in my tracks by a daytime telly piece about Sheffield's Park Hill Estate. It's an abandoned monster of residential living, completed in 1961 and falling into disrepair in the 80s.
It's now undergoing a multi-million pound regeneration, after becoming a listed building meaning it can't be demolished.
I'm not convinced. There's something a bit bleak about that artist's impression of the finished product. The hot air balloons are all a bit Logan's Run. Soylent Green is People.
@AideenJ tweeted me this morning after enjoying the posts about multi-coloured houses from a few weeks back.
Aideen asked me had I ever seen the Gingerbread Houses of Martha's Vineyard? I hadn't! I always though Martha's Vineyard was a chain of restaurants for a start. Thank you for sharing these with me, and anyone else, feel free to tweet me things you find here & there @rudedoodle.
As heard on BBC Radio 6's Lauren Laverne Show.
