Latest Curious Candy American Sweetie Haul

Some fresh goodies from www.facebook.com/CuriousCandy in Bangor Northern Ireland.
I'm on a diet so hopefully this will last me until their next delivery. The brown sweets are a vintage British favourite, Penny Whoppers. Made to the original recipe, which is why I love Curious Candy. They know their stock and pick the best. I bought those for my Dad who is 61 tomorrow. It'll go nicely with his complete box set of The Wire!

Vacu Vin's Eames' Era Inspired Stacking Dishes & My Asian Supermarket Haul

We've taken to tacos in this house, and these serve & stack dishes from Vacu Vin are perfect for holding all the bits and bobs involved in a Mexican dinner.

The set of six pieces is only £15.95, and will be getting good use as Dorito & dip trays too. Also good of you've fussy toddlers, lots of finger foods, cut up carrot, apple, toast soldiers, served in these dishes will go down a treat.

I've rather unceremoniously plonked my Asian Supermarket haul in them to show you, but you get the idea! Buy them here http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B003QMU2LG

My First US Candy Haul, Thanks Dan Lacey!

My first package arrived from my candy-swap penpal, Dan Lacey Painter of Pancakes.

I've already had to give up the sweetie watch to my son, but the rest is for me!
It's from The Mall of America too!

In case you are wondering, I sent Dan Fry's Turkish Delight, a Caramac, Kinder Bueno, Cadbury's Dairy Milk & something else, can't remember, posted two weeks back. Made me realise that our confectionary is more chocolate based than our American chums. Must be a European thing.

Dan also sent me another magnet of his art for my growing fridge art gallery, thanks!

American Soda & Candy, in Conlig!

The World of Kitsch has a worldwide audience, but at its beginning I always posted any interesting imported food I found here in Northern Ireland.

I don't mean exotic rice-stuffed vine leaves, or spices from India, I mean American, or Eastern European junk food.

My Twitter friend @gay_burns posted an Instagram of the imported Mountain Dew he found this morning, and within 3 hours I'd visited the shop in question & stocked up. They also have Root Beers, Dad's Cream Soda & Berry drinks. £1.35 per can.

If you are Northern Irish, it's the Mace on the Green Road in Conlig that's housing these treasures.

Everyone else wanting a Yankee fix, head to www.CyberCandy.co.uk The online site from the Covent Garden based store. I can't never leave there without spending £30+
