The Goon Holler Handbook - Buy It! You'll Like It!

I haven't blogged all week, probably the longest time between blog posts since The World of Kitsch began. As you know my health is pretty ridiculous, but I made it through the whole day of my brother's beautiful wedding last Wednesday, and now I'm bedridden. Like proper, old person, bedridden. I can't even get up and sit on the sofa with my husband. I have a backlog of products and posts to get through, so if you are a PR checking up on a post, fire me and email and I'll let you know where I am with things (see 'work with' page).

Okay, onto The Goon Holler Handbook then. I'm not sure how I found Tooba on Vine, but I instantly loved the big, goofy monster, and it made sense when I found out his being has a lot to do with Parker Jacobs, part of the team that created Yo Gabba Gabba.
I've a link to my own Vine in the links section above now, along with Instagram and the like, and if you check out my likes you'll find the Goon Holler Vine profile pretty quickly.

Anyway, here's why you should buy The Goon Holler Handbook. I'm sold.

What Happens When Creepy Breeds with Cute? - The Blood Draw Creature Collection

Northern Irish illustrator Claire Miskimmin's work mashes up the stuff of nightmares with something you'd quite like to pet on your lap. Her gothic beasts wouldn't look out of place in Tim Burton's back garden, foraging for grubs for dinner.

Claire's work is available to take home at http://blooddraw.bigcartel.com and at her blog www.blooddraw.tumblr.com the bizarre menagerie is added to often.

Locally, you can view, buy, or have tattooed onto you these beasties at Skullduggery Tattoo, Belfast, N.Ireland. I'm very tempted to adopt one onto my skin myself in the coming year.

She also plays in the band Girls Names http://girlsnames-deadtome.tumblr.com/ check them out.

Sweet Valley High Cover Art- James L Mathewuse

I know this will be a magical smack of nostalgia in the face of a large percentage of my female readers, if like me you had over a hundred of these books. The Sweet Valley Twins & High series were how we learnt about life, love & boys.

A very important part of the books were James L Mathewuse's beautiful artwork of the Wakefield sisters. It's reminiscent of Louis Shabner or J H Lynch and I would adore to have one in my collection.
