A Bouquet of Devine Scents for Valentines' Day, from Yankee Candle

image.jpg

A dozen red roses is the Valentines' cliche that no woman really minds. It might not be inventive, but it does always feel special. But what if you'd like to give your partner something a little more, or maybe your girlfriend is allergic to real bouquets of flowers, in that case Yankee Candle's True Rose collection of home fragrance can swoop in to the rescue.

image.jpg

True Rose and Wedding Day are 'Fragrances of the Month' which means you'll get 25% off purchases of those scents. It's a beautiful looking jar, with the bright red to brighten up a room during the tail end of winter.

The scent is accurate and nostalgic for me. My Gran used to grow roses outside her little house, so there was a welcoming scent when you walked the path to her door.

If you prefer reed diffusers, then True Rose is available in that format too. Reed diffusers are lovely to place in a bathroom for a long time aroma in a smaller space.

Pink Carnation makes a special appearance this month, and a trip to your local Yankee store will prove that you can put together a bouquet of floral scents, if you feel like being adventurous with your home fragrance. Perhaps use a tart burner with half of a True Rose tart, and half of a pink carnation tart and see how it smells.

So if you're stuck for present ideas, why not visit Yankee Candle and pick from their cutely packaged romantically themed sets.

Wraps- Wrist Wearable Headphones You'll Never Lose!

Wraps are wearable headphones. Well, strictly all headphones are wearable, but these are designed to be worn on your wrist when not in use, meaning you'll never have to scramble about trying to find your earphones again.

Smix has a demonstration of the £14.99 bright blue set.

image.jpg

Wraps are a British design product and their online store has more subtle colour choices if the bright ones aren't to your taste.

image.jpg

As you can see from Smix's video, they are so easy to wear a child can do it.  The braided texture of the wire makes them far less tangle-prone that usual headphones, so even though you are wrapping them around your wrist, they easily unwrap too.

image.jpg

They kindly sent us a pair each, so I chose the bright pink. I've been wearing mine all weekend and I can let you know they are comfortable as well as snazzy looking.

Oh, and if audio quality is important to you, be assured that that factor hasn't been overlooked in favour of wearable design. Sounds are crisp and clear and the ear buds are comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

They'd make a great stocking filler, present for a teen relative, or the family muso.

Ever Wondered What Die Hard's John McClane's Christmases Were Like as a Kid?

Die Hard is my favourite Christmas film. These clever  Little John McClane Christmas Cards by Nick Scurfield are for sale on Last Exit To Nowhere. The are priced at £8 a pack, so £2 each.

Last Exit is where a couple of years ago I bought a cool 'Now I Have a machine gun, ho, ho, ho' print Christmas sweatshirt. The print doesn't seem to be in stock now, but there are quote wristbands which would make cute stocking fillers for £2.

By designing prints for the imaginary brands & companies featured within movies, you can wear a more subtle nod to your cult films classic than just a straight print of the poster and stars.

Last Exit to Nowhere have  regular t-shirts, women's sizes, kids' tees, caps, posters, hoodies and much more.

Not sure which film is your gift receiver's absolute favourite? Be the coolest inlaw on Christmas morning and get them a gift voucher to pick their own.

Museum Selection Shares The History of Garden Gnomes, plus Win a Hare Garden Ornament

Gnomes are one of the top ten answers that pop up when you ask the general public what a kitsch item is to them. Weirdly though I don't feature them on www.TheWorldofKitsch.com often. Why? I don't know, I just don't like them. I think they are tacky in a bad way.

I mean I have plastic lawn flamingoes, and they aren't exactly middle class norms, but I just don't like gnomes. The front garden needed a little spruce up and something new, so I've ordered an ornamental fox on Museum Selection, which I will blog about when he arrives.

Until then how would you like to win your own ornamental hare for your grassy patch? It's a little different from a guard dog.

Thanks to Museum Selection for this gnome infographic.

Hotel Chocolat Father's Day Gift Ideas, For Daddies with a Sweet Tooth

I'm going to embarrass my Dad here, but he has been known to buy sweets (Maltesers & Fry's Cream mostly) and hide them on top of the kitchen cupboards so my 5ft tall Mum can't find them & eat them! So he'd love any of these treats from Hotel Chocolat this Father's Day.

The H-box Everything Selection for £13 has a delicious menu of dark, milk and white chocolates.
